Stencils

The most effective directions are often the ones people don't have to stop and read. Pavement markings and floor graphics communicate information exactly where decisions are being made — whether guiding a driver into the correct lane, identifying an accessible parking space, directing pedestrians through a parking garage, or separating forklift traffic from employee walkways. Used throughout parking lots, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, distribution centres, schools, hospitals, and commercial properties, these surface markings become an integral part of how a facility operates every day.

Many surface markings do more than improve organization — they also support regulatory compliance. Accessible parking spaces, for example, typically require pavement symbols in addition to vertical signage, while directional arrows, stop markings, parking layouts, loading areas, and other traffic control markings are often specified on approved site plans, engineering drawings, or municipal requirements. Inside industrial and commercial facilities, floor markings also help support workplace safety by defining travel paths, identifying storage locations, highlighting hazards, and improving the separation of pedestrians and equipment.

Whether you're applying standard pavement markings or creating a custom floor marking program, the most effective results come from a consistent approach. Safety Media manufactures reusable pavement stencils, warehouse floor marking stencils, and durable floor graphics for a wide range of applications, including parking, accessibility, traffic control, warehouse organization, and workplace safety. Because these markings often work together with parking, traffic, wayfinding, and safety signs, we can also help create a coordinated visual system that keeps your entire facility clear, consistent and easy to navigate.

Stencils FAQ

How should I clean a stencil after use?

Clean the stencil shortly after use, before paint fully dries and builds up around the edges of the letters, numbers or symbols. Lay the stencil flat and remove excess paint from both sides, especially around small openings, bridges and detailed areas. For water-based paint, warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth or sponge are usually sufficient. For heavier paint buildup, use a plastic scraper or soft brush rather than sharp metal tools that could damage the stencil edges. Keeping the stencil clean helps maintain sharp markings, reduces paint bleeding and makes the stencil easier to reuse on future projects.

How should stencils be stored?

Store stencils clean and dry in a flat position or hanging vertically, away from heavy objects that could bend or crease the material. Avoid storing them in areas with excessive heat, moisture or direct sunlight for long periods. Proper storage helps maintain the stencil shape, keeps the edges aligned and makes it easier to reuse the stencil for future marking projects.
