This fire safety plan box is suitable for properties that require organized on-site storage for fire emergency documentation, including commercial, industrial, institutional, condominium and multi-residential buildings. In the City of Toronto, buildings that are required to have an approved Fire Safety Plan must also have a fire safety box or a fire safety box with a lock box, with location and contents governed by Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 470.

The box includes two padlocks, allowing one lock to secure the cabinet while the spare unlocked padlock is stored inside the box where required. Photoluminescent key tags help identify service-room keys, and the included mounting screws and wall anchors support installation at the required or approved location.

Toronto Installation Note

For City of Toronto properties, Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 470 requires a fire safety box to be surface-mounted within 3 metres of the main entrance, installed between 1.5 m and 1.8 m above the floor, and securely mounted to an interior wall unless another location is approved by the Chief Fire Official.

The box should be installed where it can be quickly located by responding fire personnel and should provide enough space to hold the required contents, including an unfolded copy of the approved Fire Safety Plan.
