Flammable Liquid Safety Cans
Handling flammable liquids during maintenance, manufacturing or other workplace operations requires a container designed for controlled filling, storage and dispensing. Flammable liquid safety cans use features such as self-closing openings, pressure relief and flame arresters to help manage the risks associated with transferring flammable liquids, while flexible pouring spouts provide better control when dispensing into equipment or smaller containers.
Safety Media’s Type II steel safety cans use separate openings for filling and controlled pouring, with self-closing components, pressure relief and flame arresters designed for the safe handling of flammable liquids. The cans are FM, UL and ULC approved and meet applicable OSHA and NFPA 30 requirements. ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC 30 establishes the product requirements for metallic and nonmetallic safety cans used with flammable and combustible liquids, including the two-opening Type II configuration. Multiple capacities are available to suit different handling volumes and workplace applications.

Why do Type II safety cans have separate filling and pouring openings?
The separate openings allow the can to be filled without removing the dispensing hose and provide more controlled pouring through the flexible metal spout. The fill opening also incorporates pressure-relief and flame-arresting features, while the dispensing opening helps direct liquid into equipment or smaller receiving containers with greater control. This design is particularly useful where flammable liquids are transferred regularly as part of maintenance, manufacturing or other workplace operations.
