The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) develops safety standards widely adopted in workplaces, broken into six parts, Z535.1 through Z535.6. These standards are not mandated by a governing body but are widely adopted by workplaces to promote safety.

- Danger: Indicates a hazardous situation which will result in death or serious injury if not avoided;
