Product Description
Clearly communicate how an emergency crossover door functions during a fire alarm with Safety Media’s Re-Entry Door Unlocked By Fire Alarm Braille & Tactile Signs. These signs provide the required tactile re-entry message in raised characters and Braille so people using an exit stair can identify that an electromagnetically locked crossover door will unlock when the fire alarm system releases the locking device.
Ontario Building Code Article 3.4.6.16.(5)(l) addresses electromagnetic locks installed on doors providing emergency crossover access from exit stairs in accordance with Article 3.4.6.18. Subclause 3.4.6.16.(5)(l)(iii) requires a tactile information sign displaying the words RE-ENTRY DOOR UNLOCKED BY FIRE ALARM to be permanently mounted near the door on the exit-stair side and to comply with Article 3.8.3.1. This product addresses the tactile signage requirement. A separate visual information sign with the same wording is required to be mounted directly on the door, on the exit-stair side, under Subclause 3.4.6.16.(5)(l)(ii).
